Overview

A closer look at your care.

A cataract is a clouding of the eye's natural lens that develops slowly with age, dimming colours, softening detail and scattering light at night. It cannot be cleared with drops or glasses; the only lasting treatment is to replace the cloudy lens with a clear artificial one.

When surgery is the right step, we arrange it at a partner hospital, since the clinic itself does not have an operating theatre. It uses modern microincision phacoemulsification, where gentle ultrasound breaks up the cataract through a tiny, stitch-free opening under anaesthetic eye drops, as a short day-care procedure. Your assessment, lens planning and after-care stay with Dr Vasantha Gowri here at the clinic.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

No. The eye is numbed with anaesthetic drops, so the procedure is comfortable. Most people feel only mild awareness of light and pressure, not pain.

Many patients notice brighter vision within a day or two, with sight continuing to sharpen over one to two weeks as the eye settles.

It depends on the lens chosen. Many people see well in the distance without glasses but still use them for reading. We discuss this fully before surgery.
